Terms of use and disclaimer
The calculators are a free information service and provide guide values – not tax or legal advice. Results are estimates based on the rates in force and must not be used for official or tax decisions.
The calculators use the rates in force for 2026, taken from named primary sources and cited where they are used. If a rule changed recently it may not be reflected here yet, and none of them has been through our final sign-off. Use the results for orientation only.
Scope and nature of the service
These terms govern the use of this website (“the website”) and of the calculators it provides. The website is a free, purely informational online tool: it estimates the net salary from a gross figure after social-insurance contributions and wage tax are deducted, and it explains individual building blocks of the German pay and levy system. No registration is required, no fee is charged, and simply using it forms no contract between you and the operator. For that reason this page is deliberately titled “terms of use” rather than “general terms and conditions” (AGB): a free, sign-up-free tool does not constitute the conclusion of a contract within the meaning of § 305 (1) of the German Civil Code (BGB). If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website.
Who operates this website is set out in the imprint (Impressum). The operator’s details are kept there and are not repeated here.
Guide values – not tax or legal advice
The calculators provide guide values for orientation. They are neither tax advice nor legal advice within the meaning of the German Tax Advisory Act (Steuerberatungsgesetz, StBerG), in particular its §§ 2, 3 and 5, and they replace neither a binding payslip nor a tax assessment. For a binding figure, please turn to a tax adviser (Steuerberater), to your tax office (Finanzamt) or to your employer.
The result of a general calculator is a uniform application of published formulas to the values you enter. It is not an examination of your individual case and cannot replace one. Personal circumstances – for example your tax class, child allowances, church-tax liability, your health fund’s additional contribution, allowances or special pay components – can mean that your actual net pay differs from the figure shown. Providing assistance in tax matters on a professional basis is reserved to authorised persons under §§ 2, 3 and 5 StBerG; this website expressly does not provide such assistance and does not act as an advisory body.
The figures and where they stand
The figures shown are the rates in force for 2026, taken from named primary sources and cited where they are used. If a rule changed recently it may not be reflected here yet, and none of them has been through our final sign-off. The result is an estimate rather than an official assessment – what governs is the cited source or your tax office's assessment. No calculation model declares a rate correct on its own.
Permitted use
You undertake to use the website in accordance with applicable law and, in particular, to refrain from:
- accessing, or attempting to access, parts of the website that are not publicly available,
- deploying automated scripts, bots or scrapers that place a load on the server or disrupt the normal operation of the website,
- reproducing, distributing or commercially exploiting the calculators and content without prior consent,
- using the website in a way that could harm other users or third parties.
No warranty
The website is provided “as is”. No warranty is given as to the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of the information and calculations provided. Tax, social-insurance and employment-law rules change regularly – the relevant rates are often adjusted annually – and individual data may lag the current legal position. Before relying on a result, always verify it against an official source, such as the tax administration, your social-insurance institution or your payslip.
Disclaimer of liability
You use the website at your own responsibility. The operator’s liability for damage arising from the use or the inability to use the website, or from decisions taken on the basis of the calculated values, is excluded, unless such damage is based on intent or gross negligence.
This exclusion does not apply to injury to life, body or health, nor in cases where liability is mandatory by law. Liability for intent and gross negligence, and mandatory liability under the German Product Liability Act, remain unaffected. Liability for intent cannot be excluded in advance in any event (§ 276 (3) BGB); the limits of § 307 and § 309 no. 7 BGB apply irrespective of how these terms are worded and prevail over any clause drafted too broadly.
Before any significant financial decision – for example concluding an employment contract, relocating to Germany or filing your tax return – we recommend consulting a qualified professional, in particular a tax adviser.
Copyright
The website’s own content – in particular texts, design, layout, graphics and the source code of the calculators – is protected as a personal intellectual creation under § 2 of the German Copyright Act (UrhG). Where those rights are infringed, the claims to injunctive relief and damages under § 97 UrhG apply. Private, non-commercial use is permitted without any special consent.
The underlying statutory tax and social-insurance rates themselves are not protected: those official figures are facts, not protected works. The protection covers only the website’s own presentation, selection and preparation of them. Any commercial use, the embedding of the calculators into another website, or the mass extraction of content requires prior written consent; for this, please contact info@desymphony.com.
Advertising and third-party content
The website currently shows no third-party advertising and sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Should the website display third-party advertising or partner links after launch, such content will be clearly marked as advertising. The operator does not control the content of third-party advertising and is not liable for its accuracy or reliability. You will find the details on data protection in the privacy policy and in the cookie notice.
Links to external websites
The website may contain links to external services, for example those of the tax administration, the social-insurance institutions or the Federal Statistical Office. The operator has no influence over the content of external websites; the respective provider is responsible for their content, terms of use, data-protection practices and availability.
Reservation of the right to make changes
The operator reserves the right to change, supplement or discontinue the content, the calculation bases and the functions of this website at any time and without prior notice. The main reason is that the relevant rates and legal bases change – usually annually; upkeep is carried out on a best-efforts basis, not in real time. These terms of use may also be amended. The version published on this page from time to time is the one that applies; the date of the last change is noted below. Because no account and no contract are required for use, there is no obligation to accept a new version – the version currently published simply applies.
